Salisbury Symphony presents Verdis Requiem
Keppel Auditorium
Details:

In “Monumental” on Palm Sunday, April 9, 2017, at Keppel Auditorium, the symphony will present Verdi’s “Requiem” with multiple choirs. Soloists include Angela Rene Simpson, soprano; Christy Brown, mezzo-soprano; James Allbritten, tenor; and Richard Ollarsaba, bass-baritone. This concert is sponsored by Dr. W. Gerald Cochran. The show begins at 3 p.m.

Kannapolis Intimidators vs. Lakewood BlueClaws
Intimidators Stadium
Details:

The Kannapolis Intimidators will host the Lakewood BlueClaws at 5:05 p.m. for Autism Awareness Day! It is also Candy Day at the ball park, so bring your sweet tooth and enjoy a candy scramble and autograph signing prior to the game! After the game, all kids can run the bases! The first 1,000 fans will receive an Intimidators 2017 magnet schedule. Make sure to come hungry, because on Sundays, it is all-you-can-eat for $10!

Reserved tickets are $8.00 for adults and $7.00 for children (4-12) and seniors (55+). General admission tickets are $6.00 for adults and $5.00 for children (4-12) and seniors (55+).

#611 Excursions
North Carolina Transportation Museum
Details:

The NC Transportation Museum will host a day long steam excursion on the iconic Class J #611 for the second year in a row to Virginia, and morning and afternoon trips to Charlotte and Greensboro! Travel in historic style, behind a genuine 1950's era steam locomotive and engine that represents the height of steam engine technology. Boarding begins in Spencer to Virginia at 6 a.m. on April 8, to Charlotte at 7 a.m. on April 9 and to Greensboro at 2 p.m. on April 9.

A Sense of Place
Waterworks Visual Arts Center

Enjoy A Sense of Place, an exhibit at Waterworks Visual Arts Center. The exhibit features Harriet Hoover's Family Fruit, Ann Marie Kennedy's New Work and a selection of contempory Southern photography titled The Do Good Fund. The exhibit is free and open during 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday through Friday, then 10:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.

How the West Was Won: Trains and the Transformation of Western NC
North Carolina Transportation Museum
Details:

"How the West Was Won: Trains and the Transformation of Western NC" tells the story of the coming of the railroads after the Civil War and the impact they had on the life, economy, culture, folklore, music and landscape of the mountains. Using videos, narratives, historic photos and artifacts, visitors can view the history of rail in Western NC and learn about the high drama in construction, the dangers of building a railroad grade and the despair that came with the loss of so many lives on the railroad. The NC Transportation Museum is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday through Saturday, from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday and closed on Monday.
