The mission of the Rowan County Tourism Development Authority (RCTDA) is to promote the growth and development of the Visitor Industry throughout Rowan County.
As a destination marketing organization, the Tourism Authority represents and supports the interests of the local tourism industry and promotes public awareness of the importance of tourism.
The Rowan County Tourism Authority is an independent public authority and is funded through a 3 percent local occupancy tax. An 11 member Board of Directors develops policies and practices for the Tourism Authority.
The Rowan County Tourism Authority is recognized and respected in North Carolina as a leading tourism marketing organization and has achieved economic strength and success through enthusiasm, creativity and integrity while promoting Rowan County as an authentic North Carolina destination.
Rowan County Tourism Development Authority Primary Functions Operations
- Marketing Rowan County as a destination to live work and visit.
- Advocate the importance of tourism as an engine for economic development
- Support the tourism sector of Rowan County’s economy
- Fulfill inquires from visitors
- Provide event management service for the Rowan County Fairgrounds
- Operate the Rowan County Visitor Center
- Operate the Salisbury-Spencer Trolley Works
Rowan County Tourism Development Authority Public Meeting Schedule
The Rowan County Tourism Development Authority Board meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 12 Noon at 204 E Innes Street, Salisbury, NC. All meetings are open to the public.
The Rowan County Tourism Development Authority and the Salisbury Tourism & Cultural Development Council Joint Marketing Committee meets the 1st Thursday of each month at 10 am in the 1st Floor Conference Room at the Gateway Building, 204 E Innes Street, Salisbury, NC. All meetings are open to the public.
The Rowan County TDA Personnel & Policy and Budget & Finance Committees meet as needed.
